What can you say to ICE car lovers when they bring up the devastation that rare earth mining and refining for the neodymium magnets comes up? Iron Nitride magnets they are stronger than neodymium and don't use rare earths just Iron and Ammonia to make them no new mining need to be done and megatons of scrap iron can be put back into use. Electric motors and generators can be 1/3 smaller and lighter while still maintaining the same level of performance.

If a business generates electricity using solar panels then it’s a no brained for them to get these Wi-Fi-linked chargers. 11kW charging rate is more than enough for most people visiting restaurants.
10,000 of these chargers nets tesla $33M a year assuming 24 hours a day use, 15kw/hr charge rate and 3 cents/kwh tesla’s franchise share. Not really a large part of earnings profits until reaches a few billion dollars a year. That would be a million chargers.

I feel your pain on having to share the one charger Rob. I had an interesting experience while traveling and ended up having to share a destination charger with another Tesla and a Mach E. To be clear the other Tesla driver was the plug hog. I’d definitely like to see some sort of idle fees for those drivers in the UI.
OMG……. Do an extrapolation on the charging revenues. If people are in the market but don’t own TSLA they will be suffering huge unrealized gains.
Where I live, I don't need to charge away from my home. But I do look for hotels that have charging stations. I now look for hotels that have free charging stations. At $5 or less for electricity for most charges, why risk losing customers? The only benefit I see is that charging money to charge at a destination charger is that it keeps me from using it as opportunity charging and perhaps opens it up to someone who actually needs it. That being said, most places I go have multiple stations that almost always have unused ports. Also, I get free supercharging at superchargers. And have solar panels. So I'm not used to paying for electrons…

I am a Tesla Bull I am all in on in the mission. My concern is MONOPOLY!! Tesla seems to be heading in this direction on many fronts and many years away. but when it happens what are people like Uncle Joey B going to do? Just look at Standard Oil, ATT (Ma Bell) they broke them up Tesla could be a victim of it own success. We have FSD, Charging stations and the power itself, insurance, Autos, software, what else. What will happen then??
Won't the non-tesla car manufacturers have to make software changes before their cars can use those non-tesla enabled Tesla chargers? The software communicates back and forth before charging begis, or so I understand.

I'm tired of going to my local supercharger to find most of them empty, while the 7 destination chargers 20 feet away are in use 100% of the time because my cheap-ass Tesla-owning neighbors have figured out that they can charge their cars for free even though they're not shopping at the stores. I swear, I watch it happen all the time; a Tesla drives up, the passenger gets out and enters one of the cars charging at the destination charger, moves it out, then the first driver immediately occupies the now-vacant stall, only to become the passenger of the second Tesla, which drives them both away. SMH
If you can set your unit prices , according to time of day, and set your parking rate , and it’s all transparent through the Tesla app, then I would definitely look at a Tesla Wall Connector now and offer it to locals …
Love how 3rd party EV owners will need the Tesla app. The experience will make them want to switch. I saw a friend's Genesis app and it sucked. As did my old Leaf's app.

If the government really wanted to incentivize EV adoption, they should offer interest free loans to install these chargers.
There is likely a Fed tax incentive to the business owner for installing EV charging equipment. The State side or municipality could also apply, especially in CA. Anywhere from waiving permit fees to business tax. Yay!!

wondering if they can dump all the heat from the supercharger into the pool. probably too much complexity. will be a good marketing gimmick and a fun project for interns. hopefully tesla moves faster on home hvac system with heat pumps.
Good incentives lead to good outcomes, and businesses are now incentivized to install Tesla charging infrastructure. I hope this translates into an accelerated buildout of these stations.

All of these EV’s that are a “green solution” run on coal powered energy. How is this any better than standard petroleum engines?
I don’t think many realize that it takes so much energy to mine the elements for the batteries and then also charging these cars takes a ton of energy that’s come from fossil fuels. Not to mention no one has a plan to recycle the batteries.

Instead of pointless swimming pool, I'd like to see a car-wash team located at a supercharger location! Britain is overrun with drive in car wash locations, staffed by remarkably efficient Polish and EU people who do a brilliant job in under 10 minutes and seem to charge bugger all to do it. If only they could relocate to a supercharger site …
Wow. This is huge. There is just 1 hotel in grass valley with a Destination charger… and it's broken. Many businesses will want this. It will make travel to off beat locations easy.
I'll tell several businesses that are already interested in installing chargers to attract business. A friend has vacation rental homes and is considering installing chargers… news he can also get paid will synch the deal
